The Chick Camera

Meg and Dandelion know there’s nothing like a good pair of warm boots when it comes to trudging around outside. Of course I’m not sure if this is the right kind of boot for the job, but it’s what they have.

These two are the same breed and look incredibly similar. So similar in fact I can’t tell them apart, only my wife can. I’ve been thinking, trying to make sense of what these feathers along the usually bare lower part of the leg are for. The initial thought I suppose would be warmth but the very loose fitting they have around the leg and the amount of space that would allow any wind through makes that seem unlikely. And when it comes time to sit or sleep the legs are all but entirely covered by the feathers on the underside of the body due to the way their fold their legs underneath.

I’m just not sure what the true purpose is, but given more time I may see a benefit to them.

Until then, I just consider them similar to a pair of Ugg boots. A little silly looking and certainly not for everyone but some how - kind of stylish.
