This past weekend my friend Josh was in town. He also happened to be the friend who was in town about 4 months ago the day we found Ronnie. Anyway, we had gone out and met with some friends for lunch and done some work on a childrens book we’re writing. When we pull into my drive way I hear this strange noise from the strange sheds out behind my house.
I open the door and hear what’s obviously a cat meowing. So I’m looking all over and simply can’t find it. Then I notice there is a bulge at the bottom of this thin metal sign that’s next to a piece of plywood. Soon we realize there is a very small kitten trapped in there. So we start pulling everything out like crazy trying to rescue this kitten.
We pull it out from it’s little prison. And bring it in to eat and it simply won’t. It just continues to meow the loudest noise you can imagine from something smaller than my hand.

We end up going to a local pet store getting a long and complicated lesson in caring for a 3-ish week old kitten and buy our very own kitten starter kit, which has a small bottle with a nipple and special Kitten Milk Replacement - who knew that existed.
The next morning is the local farmers market so we decided to try to give away the kitten there. Just as we leave my friend Josh and I say a quick prayer asking God to find someone to take this kitten (my wife’s allergies were already bothered after one night). So we get to the farmers market and found someone quickly, who felt like God was telling them to take care of him. The kitten, who we had called Socks due to his perfect white coloring on his feet, had found a new home and his name was changed to Spot.
Which interestingly enough is the name Sammy’s wife had given to a kitten they had gotten there a couple of years before (Sammy is the farmer who had helped me with a lot of advice when I was getting started). They were close because we had sought them out to see if they would want the kitten first. By the end of it, everyone was feeling warm and fuzzy.
Because everyone loves pictures of kittens:
