Saying Goodbye

If you’ve been reading, you know that a couple of days ago three of our beloved chickens were taken or killed by a raccoon. It’s caused huge insecurities in all of our chickens but they seem to be recovering slowly. Pepper was even injured and is limping around due to a broken toe.

Probably because I’m sick when I came out to the coop the day this happened and I saw Cinnamon the first thing I thought was - I don’t have my camera (I think this is a normal “blog” obsession issue). So for those of you who would like to see, I got a picture of Cinnamon dead

Now in remembrance of our good friends Cinnamon, Ivy and Dandelion enjoy these pictures from the last couple of days before they died, a couple were from the day of the attack. They aren’t the best pictures but they are all we’ll ever have.

Cinnamon and Ronnie from 3 days prior to the attack.

Cinnamon the day of the attack. She's a beautiful chicken.

Dandelion 3 days prior to the attack

Dandelion resting with Jessie 3 days before the attack

Ivy the day of the attack

There are of course still wallpapers of both Cinnamon and Ivy. Dandelion was shy so getting good pictures of her was very hard. Though I suspect the overall friendliness and curiosity of Ivy and Cinnamon was part of their downfall.

I have shrieked in horror. Son, you need to dispose of that photo…it is just too sad. They are not even my chickens and I am crying for the lives that were lost and the horrible way that they died.
