No more Aurora, Welcome to Rory

Rory, our Easter Egger (EE) Rooster
Today I spent sometime outside checking on the chickens. I was cleaning up some of the mess from the storms of the last few days which have left branches lying all over the yard when I noticed something strange about Aurora. She had a comb.

After closer inspection, she had a little red appearing on her face. The comb coming in was big and very red so early. Leda, on the other hand, doesn’t even have a visible comb at their equal age of seven weeks.

There’s only one conclusion. Aurora is, in fact, Rory. He’s going to be a handsome roo one day.

Rory, our Easter Egger Rooster at seven weeks.

  4. I think it’s neat you got a “Bonus” rooster. Is there really not a way of finding out before they grow a little bit?

Hard to sex a chicken until they are a few weeks old. They should be fine. Rory seems to get control over all the little chicks and Fred maintains his control of the big ones.

We’re excited. Right now he has these *tiny* little spurs. basically bumps on the back of his legs.
